When I first arrived in Australia, besides the jet lag from a 2 day flying experience, I was on a culture high. It was so different from any place I had ever been. The people were friendly, the wildlife was beautiful and the sites were excellent. The first places we went to were the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. The weather was perfect and the overall culture was very different from ours. It was a great time for me, personally and academically, to learn about the people and culture, even things like hearing, "g'day mate!"
While I was there I had an internship at a public relations firm called, "Liquid Ideas." It was a great experience for me to grow personally and in the career aspect because I learned so much about how they handled PR. For example, they are very social with clients. Having a new client over to the office for a wine tasting was a regular occurance. I got the opportunity to write a few press releases and help organize events with clients and it was not only informational, but fun. The things I learned from their culture I felt that I could bring with me back to America and share with future employers. I was very fulfilled with my experience in Australia.
